The studies were carried out as part of the scientific activity of the Centre for Polar Studies (University of Silesia in Katowice) with the use of research and logistic equipment of the Polar Laboratory of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

    Glacier velocities are derived from the displacements of four stakes (Z, R, T, U) installed close to the front of three glaciers in Hornsund. Measurements of stakes position were conducted in 2013-2015, with precise dGPS receiver (Leica 1230, accuracy ±5cm) and single-frequency GPS receiver (Garmin, accuracy ±5m).     A snowpit analysis template developed during Hansbreen Snowpit Database preparation. Relying on the enclosed files will enable the efficient use of the Interactive Snow Profile Visualizer niViz software (https://niviz.org) and achieve interoperable final products. ZIP catalogue contains the following filenames extensions: A) PDF – used to print table template on a waterproof paper (A4 or A5 format) and provide collecting the complete range of data during fieldwork; B) XLS – used for data archiving. Contained formulas automatically calculate the thickness and water equivalent of subsequent snow layers.     In the years 2009-2019, 49 samplings (shallow drilling or snowpits) were made on the glacier during the spring measurement campaigns in order to determine the bulk snow density and SWE. The average density of snow cover ranges from 386 to 447 kg/m3.
